Traditional Dealgan Spindle - an interpretation

Traditional Dealgan Spindle - an interpretation

thingiverse

I attempted to craft a Dealgan spindle with a more traditional square base, drawing inspiration from an image in the Glasgow Museum Collections. I deliberately included the "whittling" marks on its surface to give it a authentic look. This was meant as a proof of concept, and while the result resembles a Parisian souvenir, I'm overall pleased with how it turned out. Printer Settings: MakerBot is the printer brand. The MakerBot Replicator 2 was the specific model used. Rafts were included in the print job. Supports were not required for this project. A resolution of .3mm was set. Infill density was set at 20%. Notes: Use four shells to achieve a stronger tip. I only used two shells, resulting in a weak tip. Design Process: OpenSCAD was employed to create this design, but it was a rough prototype and not optimized for clean code. Despite its simplicity, you can still modify it to suit your needs.
