Tractor Loader

I have developed a construction toy based on existing building kits from ThinkFun's Maker Studio line, aimed at enhancing STEM skills and sparking creativity in individuals aged 7 to adult. A key feature of this product is its innovative use of a slot connector, which enables a rod to smoothly slide up and down along a straight line. This component, anchored with a hub cap and wheel that allows for pivotal motion, provides users with hands-on experience understanding force and leverage necessary to lift various materials or objects. Essential components required to assemble this construction toy include: large connectors (6 pieces), medium connectors (4 pieces), small connectors (2 pieces), 5-inch rods (10 pieces), a 4.25-inch rod, large wheels (4 pieces), hubcaps (4 pieces), medium sliders (2 pieces), hubcap handles (2 pieces), and a scoop. Recommended printing settings are as follows: rafts can be omitted, while supporting structures aren't necessary; however, utilizing a 0.2mm layer height and 0.4mm nozzle provides optimal results, with an infill percentage of 30% for balance between structure integrity and print speed. The product has been successfully printed using a MendelMax 3, but some users may require support during the printing process due to its delicate design features, such as the slight 1-degree draft angle on the hub cap handle. After completing the build, individuals can utilize this construction toy for imaginative play, exploring various scenarios such as excavating in the sand or cleaning up after a workshop using a tractor designed with precision engineering principles. Design inspiration originated from a STEM mind map, which led to an initial concept for constructing toys based on scientific and technological fundamentals. Building on these ideas, I utilized 3D modeling software to create a vehicle assembly, incorporating features similar to those in construction toys, such as a scoop and connections resembling those used in the given pieces.
