Track Slicer - 1/4" Tubing
thingiverse
This track slicer is used for cutting a section/"gap" out of 1/4" tubing. This "gap" is necessary for building smooth rails for model roller coasters. The "gap" of tubing can be adjusted by the amount/width of spacers used between the utility knife blades. For my projects I generally use the 1.4mm spacer, but an additional .5mm spacer is provided if minor adjustments are needed to change the spacing of the utility knife blades. Once the spacing is correct and the blades are secured by the harness into the pocket push the 1/4" tubing through the opening in the slicer tool. Once a small portion of the tubing is passed through, you can then pull the tubing through the slicer tool with ease. Tools/Additional Materials Required: - 4-40 screws or M3 screws (Qty. 3 - The screws should slide through the harness and thread into the pocket). - Utility knife blades (Qty. 2 - Standard Stanley utility knife blades or one of equal dimension) - 1/4" (outside diameter) tubing. I use polyethylene tubing for all my roller coaster model rails. Additional Notes: Even though I have only used this on my custom-model roller coasters, the 1/4" tubing is of similar size to K'nex tubing and may be used in a pinch (See attached picture). Mind you, this tubing does not attach to the K'nex track pieces as "snugly" as the standard K'nex tubing. Additional Credit: This was designed by my brother and I back in 2018.
