Tracing pad OpenBeam mount for 3d Printer Lighting
thingiverse
I just picked up one of these amazing tracing pads for a project and I'm blown away by its fantastic light quality! Since I only needed it for that specific project, I thought it would be awesome to use it for something else. Plus, I had some leftover OpenBeam/MakerBeam XL parts from another project that I was itching to use up. So, I came up with a brilliant idea - creating a 3D illumination rig using these bits. This project is a real showstopper! It features a pad clamp with a threaded bolt to securely hold the pad in place, plus a baseplate foot that I designed especially for OpenBeam enthusiasts like myself. A word of caution: The pad clamp isn't meant to have the pad hanging vertically - the threads are intentionally loose so it'll print easily, resulting in a snug fit rather than a tight one. Now, I know what you're thinking - "What's the point of this project?" Well, let me tell you, it only makes sense if you happen to have these parts lying around because, let's face it, a tracing tablet can cost $20 and OpenBeam parts can set you back $10. There are certainly easier ways to light up your 3D printer for under $30. But, if you're in the same situation as me, this might just be the clever solution you've been searching for!
