I worked on a school project that combined high poly mesh with baked data from a low poly model. I used 3ds Max to create a projection cage and bake the ID map, which helped me to achieve accurate details without overcomplicating the original design. For normal mapping, I turned to Substance Designer, where I successfully eliminated skewing issues while keeping the underlying low poly structure intact. Texturing was handled using both Substance Painter and Photoshop, allowing me to create a cohesive look that brought out the best in the model. The 3D low poly mesh used in this project was generously provided by my teacher Kevin Lavigne from UQAC-NAD 2021. It's worth noting that the name "Konig" is actually owned by the Konig bakery company, and it was utilized solely for educational purposes in this project. If you're interested in learning more about them, I recommend checking out their website at https://www.koenig-rex.com/en/products/.
