TP-Link EAP655 Table Top Mount
thingiverse
Replaced my old WIFI router with a Router/Switch/AP combination to allow me to set up custom vlans and separate the internet access within my home. I had an old multi WAN router so I purchased a vlan capable, managed switch and a separate access point for wifi. Since my router was a TP-Link I opted to go with the same brand for the switch and Access Point.Router is a TL-ER6020Switch is a TL-SG2008PAP is a TL-EAP655 WallWith this setup I can deliver multiple SSIDs using the single AP and provide different subnets for multiple vlans. I have all my IOT devices on its own subnet. I aslo created some extra subnets including one for my home use as a well as a subnet for guest access. My Raspberry Pi which is running HomeAssistant for my IOT setup has an ethernet connection directly to the switch as does my networked laser printer. The single AP is providing wifi connections to all my wifi IOT devices as well as my computers/phones. Since I also have a bunch of Zigbee devices my Pi has a Sonoff Zigbee dongle which is connected using a long USB extension. My home setup does not make mounting the EAP655 on the wall very practical so I originally had it lying on its side beside my TV. I decided I wanted to make it a little neater and easier to access the ports on the AP so I designed a tabletop mount for it.The router, switch and raspberry Pi are all hidden inside my TV stand and since the EAP655 is a POE device a single ethernet line from the switch (4 POE ports) to the EAP provides both power and data. If I need easy ethernet access to any of the subdomains the EAP has 3 ports that are all configurable (set the vlans to what you want.) Currently my Roku is connected directly to one of those ports using a short patch cable.
