ToyREP NEMA 17 Adapter
thingiverse
This adapter replaces the default 28byj-48 motor with a NEMA 17 motor for ToyREP (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:945156), designed by Thorgal. It requires no modification to the machine, except you will need a longer belt and a 5mm pulley. I recommend using an aluminum 20-tooth pulley instead of the printed pulleys provided, and upgrading to a GT2 belt, which is better suited for linear motion than the T2.5. My steps per mm on 16x microstepping with a 20t pulley is approximately 80 steps/mm. You can calculate your own steps per mm using this calculator: http://prusaprinters.org/calculator/. I have more parts in development, including an integrated adapter for the ToyREP-X1 and a Y-axis adapter. If there's enough demand, I may create adapters for different sized NEMA motors (let me know in the comments!). Pulleys are available from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16627. The motor is not perfectly straight in the pictures because I only had two screws in place at the time of the photo shoot. The last two images shown are of this adapter, with the orange adapter being a previous version. Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: ToyREP Supports: No Infill: 20% Notes: Slic3r is recommended because it detects thin parts that need reinforcement, such as near screw holes. How I Designed This I used calipers and Solidworks to design this part. Trial and error helped me determine the correct spacing and hole sizes.
