Toyota Rav4 Engine Trim Clip
thingiverse
I was on a mission to find the perfect trim clips for my Toyota Rav4, and none of the ones I found met my requirements. They needed to be installed under the hood, securing the plastic trim to the metal frame. When I replaced my battery, two of them broke off - the original black ones were still intact, while the blue test clips didn't fare as well. Not wanting to pay dealership or parts store prices, I turned to my trusty 3D printer instead. I printed these clips on my CTC Dual Bizer using Sailfish 7 software and ABS material. To get them right, I printed them sideways, which proved crucial - printing them straight up would have resulted in a fragile design that might break even with ABS plastic. With 100% infill, the smaller pin fits snugly into the outer hole, then separates as it passes through the other end, locking securely in place within the notch. This clever mechanism works by widening the lower half of the clip when fully inserted, preventing it from being pulled out. It took some trial and error to get it just right, but once I did, it was a smooth operation. I designed these clips using TinkerCad, a fantastic tool that made the process a breeze - thank you, TinkerCad!
