Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, Scion FR-S Coin Holder Console Tray

This is a removable center console coin holder/organizer tray designed for the Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ, and Scion FR-S. I found the stock cup holders inside a covered armrest useless, so I created this innovative solution. It utilizes a commercial coin holder that fits snugly into grooves for effortless removal, sourced from Custom Accessories model 91116 Coin Holder, available on Amazon for around $5. I printed it with PETG on my UM 2+ using a .06 nozzle and a print speed of 50 mm/s. Next, I applied one coat of filler primer followed by 4 or 5 coats of Plasti Dip. This results in a sticky surface, so I sprinkled talcum powder over the entire piece and rinsed it off to achieve a less tacky and more 'rubbery' finish. To maximize storage space, I designed a frame that proved effective after experimenting with various types of trays. It also reduced plastic usage and made printing easier. The parts are precision-cut for easy FDM printing. When working with PETG or ABS, use IPS Weld-On 3 Acrylic Plastic Cement to glue the parts together, available on Amazon or most hobby shops. This water-thin cement melts and fuses the plastic seamlessly. It's essential to note that you shouldn't glue the tray to the frame, but rather focus on bonding the frame pieces together first, followed by attaching the tray rim to the tray. The frame features small detents to facilitate accurate alignment of the posts, as illustrated in the rendered images.
