Toy Telescope
thingiverse
I built this for my son after watching him get excited about space while watching a cartoon featuring jets flying around in space. I set up my old telescope, and he loved it so much that he didn't want to do anything except look at the moon with it. Since bedtime is before good moon viewing time, I thought I would create something for him to use anytime he wanted to look at the moon. I designed this to be either something he could just look through and play with or we could put a small picture (about 50 mm) and a tea light (around 40ish mm diameter) inside between the hood and the tube so he could see the moon. I created this with 2 different eyepiece styles, straight through and elbow with a mirror. I didn't print or test the mirror version, and you will need to cut and glue the "mirror" to the elbow. I didn't do this for my little guy because I was afraid it might break. The mirror parts may be suitable for older children, but use them at your own risk.
