Toy grain bin

Toy grain bin

I built this grain bin for my sons play farm using a large tin can for baked beans as the base, with a diameter of 105mm. The legs and braces are made from 4mm wood craft dowels purchased at the dollar store. I attached the hopper and top to the tin can using epoxy, after removing both ends of course. To shape the tin can, I used tin snips to cut it down to about 5 inches, but you can make it as tall as needed. The lid is secured with a #6 screw. Although it works somewhat with the grain auger I previously posted, (filling is okay, but the auger is too large to fit underneath for emptying), I plan on creating a longer, thinner auger specifically designed for these bins, as well as a cross auger for easy emptying. Printer Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 1.2 Infill: 15% Notes: I used supports on the hopper to support the slides, since I printed it with the wide side facing down. I designed this grain bin in Onshape, a powerful free cloud-based CAD software that I highly recommend. This design is publicly available; search for Grain bin under public documents and you should be able to find it.
