Toy Binoculars - Bear Hunt 2020
thingiverse
Like many people right now, I have the option to work from home part time to reduce the number of people in the office. My wife and I have been juggling our household tasks while working at home for a week now. My youngest children already know what corona virus is and that getting it is bad. It's why they can't visit friends or go back to school right now. To ease their anxiety, someone started community bear hunts in our neighborhood. We went on our first bear hunt last night and my boys were really excited to find all the different bears in the area. They had a blast! I thought it would be fun to make some toy binoculars to help them in the hunt. The design I used is from another maker, but it requires support on my XYZ printer that I'd rather use for other parts of the item. I deleted the center structure from the original and repaired the holes using Solid Works. I found a teddy bear image online and ran it through Inkscape to create the extruded cut in Solid Works. This isn't really my design, but for those of us with children who don't understand what's going on right now, I'd rather they remember the bear hunts than the virus. Maybe this will help them focus on something positive. Please share your makes and any bears you might find along the way!
