Toy 3D printer
thingiverse
A toy 3D printer with working X, Y and Z axis. It also has a spool on the back. As dummy filament I used NinjaFlex TPU but you could also use a string instead. The size of the printer is 150x150x150 mm and was based on a Flashforge 3D printer design. # Hardware * 4 x M3x12 self tapping screw The screws are used to connect the bottom to the top. # Assembly 1. Glue the glass bed to the bed. 2. Glue the bed knobs to the bed. 3. Place the z axis and lead screw in the bottom piece of the printer. 4. Place the assembled bed in the z axis/lead screw. 5. Place the top piece of the printer on the bottom piece and screw them together from the bottom. 6. Place the x and y axis in the top piece 7. Place the printer head piece on the x and y axis and glue them together. Make sure you do no glue the x and y axis to the print head otherwise it will not be able to move freely. 8. Glue the corners to the side of the printer. 9. Snap the filament guide into place. 10. Snap the spool holder into place. 11. Place the spool on the holder. 12. Print the display, cut it out and glue it on the printer. You are now ready to play :-) # Print setting Print resolution: 0.2 mm Nozzle: 0.4 mm (can also be printed with 0.6 mm nozzle for speed) Infill: 15% Infill type: grid Support: Only the top part needs support, the rest can be printed without support. When printing the top; block the spool holder and filament guide from being supported. They do not need support. *And make use of GRID support*. For the big parts I used a brim to make sure the parts did not lift of from the bed. The top is printed in two colors. You should change colors on layer 65 (when printed with 0.2 mm layer height). I printed the z-axis and the lead screw in vase mode with 0.8 mm extrusion width for speed but it can also be printed normally. # Notes * I had to reprint the x and y axis a couple of time to get a perfect fit. Just change the length (and not the height and width) of the axis to meet your need, they print pretty fast. I also used Vaseline for the lubrication of the x and y axis. # Changes 9 October 2022: Updated top stl to prevent support being generated in the X/Y slot in the back.
