The Tower Terrible of Soorenar stood as a residence for the renowned archnecromancer Velsharoon the Vaunted. As he transcended to divinity, his followers flocked to his former abode, but they were unable to breach the main tower's defenses. However, the outer towers, which housed laboratories, alchemical chambers, libraries, and guest facilities, underwent transformation into a temple dedicated to this new deity. Many sections of the Tower Terrible remained inaccessible to those without the ability to climb, fly, phase, or be transported to the area, and its periphery was guarded by undead who required neither sustenance nor rest. Local residents cautiously approached the tower due to perceived threats believed to be lurking on its walls, waiting for an unsuspecting target. Moreover, dragon fangs and horns serving as perches for fiends, gargoyles, and flying undead were known to animate in response to perceived intruders attempting to access restricted areas. When the spellplague occurred, most assumed Soorenar was engulfed by the waters of the Alamber sea. Nevertheless, some in Chessenta reported evidence suggesting that portions of the town might have vanished (similar to accounts from Cimbar and Akanax). Rumors persisted that the Tower Terrible had potentially traveled to Abeir, given its theories about at least one phylactery belonging to Velsharoon. The tower's fate remained a mystery for over a century following these events. Oddly, after the Second Sundering, some began reporting sightings of the tower in the plains of the Returned Shaar near Peleveran's former capital.
