"Towel" Plane Parts, Servo/Motor Mounts & Drop Mechanism

The set of parts provided are for constructing the MAKE Magazine's "Towel" RC plane, designed by Breck Baldwin. Included in the set are two servo mounts for elevons, control arms for elevons, a motor mount, a taller servo mount for a drop mechanism, and guide parts for that same mechanism. Additionally, there are hooks available for printing to hang your plane and radio transmitter after flying. The Solidworks files for all the plane's parts have been added. To start, read the article on MAKE Magazine (http://makezine.com/projects/make-30/the-towel-rc-stunt-plane/) to understand the project better. Afterward, download and print out all the necessary parts. You would need a small screw to fit into the motor mount's counter-bored hole for clamping the motor. Adjust the motor mount bore as needed. Assemble the plane using the provided printed parts, securing them with tie wraps through the slots in the parts. Refer to the attached picture for component placement. The drop mechanism is an additional feature that can be operated via a radio switch on your remote. Attach rubber bands at the edges of wings and reinforce with tape. Practice dropping soft foam rockets or parachute men as payloads, adjusting the hole size in the wing if needed. Position the payload perpendicular to the bottom of the wing surface for better release. Finally, hang your plane on the printed hooks when not in use and show it off!
