The radar images of asteroid Toutatis reveal it to be an elongated object with irregular shape, featuring prominent ridges and possibly craters on its surface. In addition to shape details, scientists are also detecting bright glints that may indicate the presence of surface boulders. Toutatis's rotational state is characterized by a very slow tumbling motion, revolving about its long axis every 5.4 days and precessing like an unsteady football in flight, changing its orientation every 7.4 days.
