Tournaments Awards / Plaque / Trophy - Laser Cut 0.20in Clear Acrylic and a 3D Printed Base
thingiverse
I happen to have a laser cutter and a 3D printer at my disposal, which makes it easy for me to create custom awards for tournaments. Participating in board game and wargame tournaments is one of my hobbies, and I always try to make sure the organizers know how much I appreciate their hard work by giving them a nice award. When designing the award, I usually start by editing the template files using Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator. Once I have the design ready, I engrave and cut it out on the laser cutter, following the print settings guidelines that others have kindly provided. The material I use is 0.200 clear acrylic from Home Depot, which costs around $20-30 for a batch of about 18 awards - assuming there are no errors in the cutting process. I find the acrylic sheets in the same area where they sell windows and screens at Home Depot. For the base of the award, I use my 3D printer to create it from scratch. The OpenSCAD file is available for anyone who wants to adapt it to their own needs. If you don't have access to a laser cutter or a 3D printer, there are plenty of online providers that can help you out with the cutting process. I've had great experiences working with One Eyed Raven Design on Etsy, and I'm also available for custom orders through my own Etsy store, FunBoardGame.
