Tough IKEA 25mm Shelf Hanger Bracket

I'm on an IKEA improvement kick this month. This slip-on hanger fits IKEA shelves that are 25mm thick and was designed with robustness in mind to hold heavy coats. The clamp is angled narrower at the opening, which preloads the plastic and allows it to grab firmly onto the coat. The hanger hooks are thick, enabling a variety of infill levels for tuning strength in the part. With a 30% hex infill and four shells, this print holds two light jackets without any issues. If you pull heavily on the back hook, the clamp will open up, but it takes some effort to do so. Additional infill and shells would offset that. This design is tailored to fit on Makerbot Replicator build plates. Supports can be tricky; see the notes below for further information. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15mm Infill: 30% Minimum Notes: To ensure a good print, this part should be printed on its side to allow the grain to support the loads. The rounded sides can cause distortion depending on the support method used. I printed with a dual extruder printer in ABS using HIPS support. In Simplify3D, I set the horizontal offset to 0mm and 0 layers top and bottom, which puts the support directly in contact with the part and allows for a perfect bottom. Other methods can achieve a good bottom as well. Even if the bottom distorts slightly, the part remains fully usable. Post-Printing: HIPS Support Removal: If HIPS is used as described, it can be challenging to remove mechanically but is doable. The trade-off is difficulty in support versus quality of print.
