Tough Carabiner

Tough Carabiner

thingiverse

The plastic carabiner, designed for medium-duty tasks and compatible with various materials, is particularly suited for Nylon. At 60% size, it can hold up to 50lbs, while a 70lb load may cause noticeable bending. However, this carabiner should not be used for climbing or overhead lifting. Created using Tinkercad and openscad, the model features custom screw threads adapted from NielsJL's script in the Tinkercad Community. This design guarantees reliable printing in Nylon, as other thread designs may fail. Due to the size limitations of the Afinia printer, it cannot be printed at full scale, but users are encouraged to share their experiences if they manage to print it at full size. The carabiner's hinge opens sideways to avoid support material issues, and there are two STL files for different materials: Nylon and ABS. These files have varying hinge tightness depending on the material. Remember to print the carabiner horizontally and the nut vertically for optimal results.
