Totem Pole Photoscan
myminifactory
This stunning totem pole masterpiece stands majestically overlooking Tumwater Falls in Washington State. Every photograph was skillfully captured from ground level using a Nikon D5000 camera paired with a Nikkor 18-55mm lens set to its widest 18mm setting. Upon close inspection, the model reveals some fascinating insights into the photoscan process. Notably, the right side of the pole boasts significantly more detail than its left counterpart. This disparity is directly attributed to the sun's position, which illuminated the pictures taken from that angle, resulting in far superior quality compared to those shot with harsh backlight on the opposite side. Furthermore, the scan's fidelity gradually declines as you ascend the pole. This degradation is a result of the closer proximity of the photographs taken near the base, yielding richer data than the more distant shots of the top. To enhance the model's overall appearance, I performed some meticulous retouching on the eagle's wings and its obscured base, which was invisible from ground-level vantage points.
