I recently had a frustrating experience with Toshiba Cyprus after dropping my laptop's power plug inside the device. They charged me an additional €75 (on top of the €8 I paid on eBay) to replace it with a brand-new original Toshiba plug. However, just one month later, the new plug dropped out again and I had to carefully remove the old silicone glue that was holding it in place - a time-consuming process that took around an hour. Determined to find a more effective solution, I decided to design my own laptop power plug repair kit. Using a 3D printer, I created a sturdy new plug within 10 minutes at a cost of only €0.26 (1 gram). Not only was this option significantly cheaper than what Toshiba Cyprus had offered, but it also worked better and required no adhesive. Here's how I designed this simple yet effective repair: I started by researching online for existing designs that could serve as a template for my project. I came across several options on 3D printing communities and forums, but none of them quite met my needs. Undeterred, I decided to create my own design from scratch. Using computer-aided design (CAD) software, I began by drawing out the basic shape of the plug, taking into account its dimensions, material requirements, and electrical specifications. Next, I imported my design into a 3D modeling program where I refined it further, adding features such as holes for the plug's screws and a textured surface to prevent slipping. Finally, I exported my design as an STL file and sent it off to my 3D printer. Within minutes, the new plug was printed and ready for use. To ensure that my repair would be secure and reliable, I carefully attached the plug to the laptop's motherboard using screws.
