This metamorphic rock is primarily made up of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). In geology, marble has a more specific meaning than it does in commerce. Marble is extremely important for building purposes, both as rough stone and as polished slabs. Essential Minerals: Calcite Non-Essential Minerals: Graphite, Pyrite, Ilmenite can sometimes be present, but often none are found.
