Torture Lattice Cube
thingiverse
Customizable lattice cube. Original concept by prolific maker Angus Deveson, Maker's Muse. Play with beam diameter parameter to stress harder! Other parameters alter quantity and size of cubes, and number of repeated lattices. I've provided three .STLs here, with strut diameter 2.4mm, 2.0mm, and 1.6mm. Clearly the weakest part of structure and print is initial beams going out from base, as these float in free space including first branches, before being attached back to main structure. Beyond that point it's quite stable, until it gets towards top and layer size drops below minimum cooling time. Update - added parameter for number of lattices to repeat. Update - added monster lattice STL. I don't have successful print to share from FDM, but resin printer had no problem with it! Also, just for fun - added photo of resin print of 12-fold repeated lattice which yields neat sort of rotunda thing. Relevant mods to my i3 plus are decent cooler (DiiiCooler by Pawpawpaw85), and Micro-Swiss all-metal hot end. I'm using 0.25mm retraction distance for PLA with this setup.
