Torture Lattice Cube
cults3d
Customize-able lattice cube. Original concept by the prolific Angus Deveson, Maker's Muse Play with the beam diameter parameter to stress harder. Other parameters alter the quantity and size of the cubes, and the number of repeated lattices. I've provided three .STLs here, with strut diameter 2.4mm, 2.0mm, and 1.6mm. Clearly the weakest part of the structure and print is the initial beams going out from the base, as these float in free space including their first branches, before being attached back to the main structure. Beyond that point it's quite stable regardless, until it gets towards the top and the layer size drops below the minimum cooling time. Update - added parameter for number of lattices to repeat. Update - added a monster lattice STL. I don't have a successful print to share from the FDM, but the resin printer had no problem with it! Also, just for the fun of it - added a photo of a resin print of a 12-fold repeated lattice which yields a neat sort of rotunda thing. Relevant mods to my i3 plus are a decent cooler and the Micro-Swiss all-metal hot end, with which I'm using a 0.25mm retraction distance for my PLA.
