Torso of an Archaic Statue of a Youth (Kouros)
myminifactory
Island of Naxos (Greece), acquired in 1903 showcases exceptional marble from Naxos, dating back to 550 - 540 BC. The Naxians' involvement in developing the kouros type was decisively driven by their access to high-quality local marble. Under Egyptian influence, this prototype of archaic male images emerged, typically featuring nude bodies depicted frontally. As tomb statues, they embody the aristocratic ideal of athletic and intellectual perfection. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory.
