thingiverse
This Roman torso sculpture, dating from the 1st-2nd century A.D., showcases a muscular figure with a mature, realistic portrait head. It is believed to represent the Greek hero Diomedes, known for his role in the Trojan War. The artwork measures 53 7/8 x 23 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches (including base) and was gifted to the Art Institute of Chicago by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin E. Hokin in 1972. It is currently displayed in Gallery 152 as part of their Ancient and Byzantine Art collection, highlighting the trend among well-to-do Romans to associate themselves with mythological heroes.
