Torso of a Dancing Satyr

Torso of a Dancing Satyr

myminifactory

This is a representation of a satyr, identifiable by the fur covering its torso and the presence of a tail. Its genitalia have been intentionally omitted and it bears two crosses on its chest, which can be attributed to the statue's re-dedication in Christian times. The sculpture stood proudly in the facade of the nymphaeum and originates from Miletus, now a part of modern-day Turkey.
