Torso de Belvedere
sketchfab
Part of the Gypsoteca at the University of Seville. The first specimen of this casting entered the Royal Academy of San Fernando between 1776 and 1780. It belonged to the collection, which Mengs gave to Charles III and then the monarch ceded it to the aforementioned academy. The original piece of this work, found in Rome and viewable at the Vatican Museums, influenced Michelangelo when representing his Herculean figures, loaded with an enormous muscular tension that contributed to emphasize the 'terribilitá' present in the gaze of their representations.
