Torsional Vibration Damper
grabcad
The final year engineering project at University of Concordia features a variable torsional vibration damper that reacts to impulses and dampens vibrations between shafts. It utilizes a magneto-rheological fluid with adjustable viscosity, controlled by coil current and magnetic field, for varying damping ratios. The "as-built" model functioned as anticipated; however, improvements could be made on sealing the MRF fluid, particularly around bearings.
