The Torre Latinoamericana, Mexico City's first skyscraper, stands tall at 188 meters or 597 feet with 44 stories constructed in 1956. It is renowned for being the first successful skyscraper built on a highly-seismic location. The building owes its name to Seguros Latinoamericana, an insurance company that occupies it, and was designed by architect Augusto H. Álvarez. A symbol of Mexico City, the Torre Latinoamericana is also a landmark that offers breathtaking views from its lookout.
