Torquil
thingiverse
This project features a massive steel and birch MakerBot equipped with a skillet controlled by an autotransformer. Note that this hack requires the autotransformer as a skillet generates excessive radiant heat; the transformer is set at 40% power (reduced during summer). I decided to document this innovative setup, which uses a bed weight limiting print speed to 40mm/sec. A Thingomatic with Mk6+ extruder has been employed, and a stepstruder is currently being developed. The setup runs on Gen 3 electronics and features a Mk4 plastruder.
