Torque Arm for HP Velotechnik Gekko and Bafang hub motor
thingiverse
This is a game-changing torque arm that lets you easily install a Bafang hub motor on an HP Velotechnik Gekko recumbent trike without worrying about the axle spinning out of control and chewing up your expensive aluminum alloy dropouts. The four clamps are precision-cut from 1/8" thick material. The arm itself is made from 1/4" thick material, ensuring a solid connection. I had them cut in high-quality stainless steel on a state-of-the-art waterjet cutter. I've included photos of me holding the 3D printed prototype to give you a clear idea of how the pieces fit together seamlessly. The torque arm slips over the left-hand side of the hub motor axle, then the clamps can be slid along the torque arm until they align perfectly with the notches in the torque arm. Finally, the clamps are pushed into place, securely clamping around the chainstay.
