Toroid Helpers
thingiverse
Many hobbyists successfully "wind their own": inductors utilizing toroids and wire. One of the biggest hurdles in accomplishing this (apart from counting) is securing the wire tightly and neatly around the toroid. For some of the most popular toroid sizes (68, 80, and 94), I have designed these compact tools. Once fastened firmly in a vise, they press the wire toward the interior of the toroid (as seen in the picture above) and hold the toroid steady for you to straighten out the wire on the outside. If you're using enamel-coated copper wire, it's a good idea to wrap some Teflon strip around the tools as I did to protect the coating.
