Torodial Fan Remix
thingiverse
This is a remix of the Simple Torodial Desk Fan. Major changes to the design include: 1) Resizing everything up to be much larger (150x). The result is a nice medium sized fan. 2) 21mm motors are hard to find and very noisy when you do. I found a nice 34mm motor that's used in motor homes for fans and modified the shroud to accept that. 3) I also included cable management for the motor wiring. 4) Motor cover. This quiets the fan more and gives a nice sleek look. Printing it out of TPU SIGNIFICANTLY reduces motor noise. 5) The leg stand was lengthened to allow the fan to almost be vertical. Construction: Wire up the power jack and then feed your wires up thru and out the shroud. Now just press the power jack into the hole on the bottom. Place the motor in the shroud and install the fan blade. The hole on the fan blade is small, just use a reamer or drill bit to enlarge the hole and then shove it onto the motor shaft while the hole is a bit tacky. Be sure to do this AFTER you have put the motor in the shroud. Continue threading your wires up thru the motor cover and with the cover in place, trim and solder them to your motor. The motor cover will should have enough play to lift about 2mm, which you can place glue into that channel with a toothpick to glue the motor to the shroud. Push the cover down after applying glue and wipe excess off. NOTE: The included wires on the motor will not work with this design. You'll need to cut off the shrink on the terminals and release the little lock on the spades. Then they come off easily. I use em for all of my variable power needing projects.) (Affiliate links cost you nothing and allow me to keep posting designs. Thank you for your support)
