TORB - The Tornado Beast
thingiverse
This shroud is engineered to blow from two distinct directions, unlike most standard shrouds which only direct airflow in one general direction. The key difference between this unique dual-direction-fan shroud and others lies in its ability to avoid colliding air-flow on top of the nozzle, thus preventing stagnation. Instead, it blows air to each side of the nozzle, generating a vortex or tornado effect. This approach ensures that the air continues to flow while maintaining an even distribution, without producing a harsh wind that could potentially move aside molten plastic. One notable aspect of this shroud is its relatively high air-speed, which may result in slightly increased stringing compared to other shrouds. However, it still manages to cool objects effectively. The primary benefit of this shroud lies in its ability to cool objects efficiently while avoiding airflow from a single direction. Test prints used for evaluation include the following items, printed in 0.2lh with standard quality settings in Slic3r PE: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1377955 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3167063 The white prints are made from Prusament White PLA, while the black print is constructed from Prusament Black PETG. All fan-test-objects have been spun to showcase airflow in multiple directions (the model's symmetry makes it somewhat challenging to visualize). A lattice-cube with dimensions 0.16lh and colored in Prusament Galaxy Black has been scaled down to 30%. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1850320
