Toranado Extruder X Carriage for 10mm rod PRUSA i3
thingiverse
Designed for use with the Toranado Extruder, located at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1246951 on March 10th, 2016: The gusset rib and additional top bearing clamp screw bosses were added to further stiffen and stabilize this carriage. February 14th, 2016: The extruder mounting holes were moved 8.5mm to the left, so that the top hole is closer to the linear bearing, making mounting more stable. An X Stop Micro switch holder was also added, optimized for use with this carriage. This part simply snaps onto the 10mm smooth rods with a friction fit and can be manually slid on the rods to adjust the X stop position. Use flexible materials like PET or ABS, as PLA may break. Note that this design is used with LM10UU linear bearings and 10mm smooth rods (the standard PRUSA i3 uses 8mm rods). This simple one-piece carriage design snaps over the linear bearings for easy assembly and dis-assembly. Materials such as ABS or PET work well for this snap fit action, but PLA may break. The belt ends are simply pressed into the engaging teeth. To increase the tightness of that fit, add shims (paper, kapton tape, etc.). This has worked well for me, with the belt firmly retained under high belt tension for high speed and acceleration. The carriage can be found on Tinkercad at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/86GF8ksBcEP-toranado-extruder-x-carriage-lm10uu-print-v2. The X-Stop is located at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/3rcGDxQjIoa-x-stop-10mm-rod-prusa-i3-toranado-carriage.
