This digital gage adapter mounts in the Toranado V2 removable hot end clamp, using that single screw to lock it in place. To use this tool, simply pull out the Toranado V2 hotend, and replace it with this gage, then measure your print bed. The digital gage is inexpensive and accurate, available for purchase on ebay at the following link: http://BigCooter.com/gage/ When purchasing a gage, make sure to select the one that matches the design in the Thing files, as some similar appearing gages may not have the mounting feature on the backside. A 3D model of this gage is included here, which can be used to facilitate the design of other gage accessories. Users are free to use this model as they wish. There is an option for fixing the gage to the printed adaptor block, requiring a single M3 clearance hole in the gage. This allows users to clamp the gage to the block with a M3 screw, keeping their block and gauge aligned. Personally, I have found this tool very useful for checking the flatness of the print bed. While auto leveling is a great feature, variations in bed flatness cannot be compensated for. This tool enables users to map the print bed and make adjustments by machine or by hand to achieve low flatness variation across the bed. This can be accomplished with beds made of PEI, Aluminum, etc., even by hand sanding, it's easy to achieve a bed flatness of 0.05mm max total variation, greatly improving first layer print quality over the entire bed for parts that require good cosmetic appearance on that surface.
