Project for systems tech at school with countless hours of dedication. Modelled meticulously from a drawing and a comprehensive review of the Holden Torana A9X. BODY- I employed a half body build design with guards (to minimize support material, I opted to print the body in halves). Optional: whole body build with raft and supports. The entire structure was printed in black with a raft on a MakerBot Rep 2. Featured components include: • bumpers • grille • tail light surrounds • window surrounds Later modifications: • updated: added 32mm wheels & tyres (12/15). • Working on interior and floor, which will secure the wheels in place (31/12/2015). • modelled a new detailed floor and bucket seat. (see below) • On January 20th, I resolved the printer issue and printed a redesigned floor that completes my car project. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Model: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: Yes Supports: Not applicable Notes: Print body in halves to optimize support material usage. Supports and rafts required. The hood opens using two small steel pins with heads removed, anchored securely via holes in the body and hood. The detailed floor is printed on its side, supported by a raft and supports, as are the bucket seats and the entire floor. For MakerBot Replicator 2, I recommend checking tip to table spacing before builds to achieve proper adhesion with painter's tape! Chassis Layout: A simple chassis will be designed to accommodate four dragway wheels. Assembly requires suitable glue for all parts. You will need two pieces of 3mm dowel or metal rod for axles, or you can print a 3mm rod to desired length. Rolling Model Features • trimmed window frames, scrape along the inner edge and then glue in place • detailed floor • newly designed floor to hold wheels and bucket seats.
