Toppers for PEX (SharkBite) to hold PixaBulb
thingiverse
These adapters are designed to fit on top of PEX tubing commonly sold under the brand SharkBite. They're available at many hardware stores including Home Depot. They hold the base only of a PixaBulb (remove clear lens). Here's an overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jwMc-yHRuU Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2mm layers Infill: Fast Honeycomb, 10% Notes: I've included the factory files for Simplify 3D which will correctly position the lenses so the center is lined up with the center of a hexagon for the fill. This is crucial to get the correct fill printed. See screenshot for reference. Post-Printing Assembly Print one bulb holder for each shell. The bulb holder is press-fitted into the base of the shell with the surface that was on your print platform going in first so it's completely open at the base. A dab of glue or Acetone (if you printed in ABS) will secure the ring in place. Make sure to test-fit a PixaBulb and place on a piece of 1" PEX to ensure you have the ring far enough inside. The correct depth should leave 1/2" from the bottom of the ring to the base of the shell. This will allow the assembly to slide over the top of the PEX 1/2". After mounting your inner ring and securing it (glue/acetone), remove the plastic lens of a PixaBulb node. You won't need it. Insert the base of the pixabulb into the interior ring making sure to line up the wires with the notches of the ring. Thread the pixabulb wires through your piece of PEX (you'll likely have to solder on extensions unless you're making these really short). Place the topper on the end of the PEX and gently press it into place. You shouldn't need any further attachment bonding. But, if you feel it necessary, a sheet metal screw can be screwed through the lens and into the PEX, but I don't think this is necessary.
