I Designed a Charging Dock for My Xiaomi Mi 8 Phone Using Solidworks' Generative Topology Optimization. The charging dock I designed for my phone is a unique creation that showcases the capabilities of Solidworks' Generative Topology Optimization. This innovative tool allows designers to create complex structures with optimal material distribution, resulting in reduced weight and increased strength. While the results are not perfect, as the infill is not taken into account and most of the forces were estimated visually, the design still looks impressive. The charging dock's structure is a testament to the power of topology optimization, which enables designers to create complex shapes with minimal material usage. After designing the charging dock, I printed it using my Ultimaker 3 Extended printer. The printing process was smooth and efficient, thanks to the high-quality PLA filament from RS White. The printer settings used were standard UM3 Profile in Ultimaker Cura 4.1.0 slicer software. The printing temperature was set at 210 degrees Celsius, while the bed temperature was maintained at 50 degrees Celsius. The resulting charging dock is a sturdy and functional accessory that complements my Xiaomi Mi 8 phone perfectly. Sample production information: Printer: Ultimaker 3 Extended Nozzle diameter: 0.4 mm Filament: PLA, RS White Slicer software: Ultimaker Cura 4.1.0 Slicer settings: Standard UM3 Profile Printing temperature: 210 degrees Celsius Bed temperature: 50 degrees Celsius
