Topographical Heatmap of r/place

thingiverse

The internet's elite - Reddit's developers and administrators - decided to have some fun this April first with the launch of r/place. This community-driven masterpiece allowed each user to place a single pixel of their chosen color on a canvas every five or ten minutes. At first, there was chaos, and from that chaos, order emerged... along with memes. https://www.reddit.com/r/place/ This 3D visual representation is an extruded heatmap of each pixel's activity over the full 72 hours of r/place. Higher points indicate the most active areas on the canvas. A 16px Gaussian blur was applied before 3D rendering, and the source heatmap was generated by user /u/opl_. Print Settings: Notes: Three versions are available. The only difference between them is the number of polygons used in each model. The "full" version contains nearly one million triangles and should print smoothly on most printers. The printed files measure 200mm square, but I scaled my print to 50% in Slic3r for demonstration purposes.
