Topeak Explorer Bike Rack Trunk Bag Adapter

Topeak Explorer Bike Rack Trunk Bag Adapter

thingiverse

This is a design for mounting-adapters that allow users to transform most bags into trunk bags that can slide onto the top rail mount of a Topeak Explorer rack. These adapters can be printed and attached to any bag or object that has some structure to it. The design calls for using an old camera bag from the 90's, although anything with good structural integrity will work great. To create these adapters, users simply need to print one or more of the provided files, then attach them to their existing bags using x screws and x bolts. Instructions 1-Print 1 or more adapter panels (a larger version is included for use on bigger bags). 2-I printed on a Rep 2 with no supports, no raft, and the panel stood up on its side without issue. 3-Pick a bag that is structurally sound. 4-Reinforce the bottom of the bag with something rigid like plywood. 5-Mark where you want the holes to be, depending on how far forward or back you want your bag to slide on. 6-Drill holes through both the substrate and the bag. 7-Insert and tighten bolts (10.5mm wide nuts and 15mm screws are used, but users may prefer a different length). 8-Slide onto rail! Users will need to determine the best way to secure their bags to the frame, although this depends on the individual's needs.
