top tube bag

I don't like traditional top tube bags, because they are a bit too bulky for my tastes. This one is printed with TPU filament, using 0.8mm wall thicknesses. The bag itself is really just a simple "box", which is printed totally sealed up. After its printed, take a knife and cut a slit down the middle of the slanted top portion. This gives you squish access to get at whats inside.

Print the brace with something stiff, like PLA or PETG. You could use TPU here too if you wanted, and it should work ok, but a stiffer plastic will help the bag hold its shape a little better.

To secure it to the bike, drop the brace into the top (after you cut a slit) then push it through the two holes on the side. The beam provides a little bit of rigidity so the bag doesn't deform from the pressure of the elastic strap.

Use the printed stretchy strap (or just a rubber band if you prefer that) and loop it around to two pins on the sides. If you have a flat top tube then that should be all you need to secure it to the bike. If you have a more rounded top tube, then you may need to cut two more slits in the front and add a loop around the steerer tube. I used a velcro cable strap for mine.

This was designed with on-the-bike snacks in mind. It is not meant to hold something heavier, like a big phone. Just fill it full of peanuts or gummy bears!
Category: Sport & Outdoors
