Top spool mount for direct drive on Ender 3
thingiverse
I've put this down as a remix, although it's redo from scratch. When I got a Sprite direct drive extruder for my Ender 3 V2 I needed to change the position of the spool mount and the best solution seemed to be something like the Ender 3 S1 with the spool held at 45 deg angle behind the top rail. There was an existing design but this would have required unscrewing stuff and from the comments it sounded like it was a little tight. This redesign clips onto the top rail and the existing bracket screws onto it using the original cap screws (allen bolts). As with the previous design, the screws will self tap if you don't have a suitable tapping tool to cut threads. I've also done a filament guide. The main reason for a guide being needed is to help ensure the filament doesn't come off the edge of the spool, so it's got a nice big hole and lets the filament just "do it's own thing". I can't see a need to force it down a tube or anything. At some point I may add a filament break detector, but I can live without one for now. The filament guide also clips to the top rail. As a bit of a bonus, I've also modelled the rail using some specs I found online. This may be of use for anyone else designing bits to add to the rails.
