Top Mount Spool Enclosure
thingiverse
Keep your filament spotless and free from dust. Add a touch of personality to your printer by turning it into a robot, thanks to my Sturdy Top Mount Spool Holder design that works flawlessly with this concept. You can use other spool holders as well, but I've tested mine successfully. To assemble the robot, open the doors slightly and place them over your spool. The shape is form-fitting, so you'll need to do it carefully. Once in position, push the doors back into their closed state. Now you can monitor your filament levels through the transparent windows. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this design or see how you've used it in your builds! Feel free to share your experiences. **Updates** 2018-04-13: After testing, I realized that the gripper feet pictured on each door didn't hold securely as intended. I redesigned the grip mechanism (check out the exploded model) and now use a clip instead. 2018-05-03: If you look closely at the picture, you'll notice a version of the door-window design that I didn't release initially. It was challenging to get the window in place without compromising the corners, so I redesigned it to eliminate the overlap issue. The new version has two clips that you insert after placing the window, which keeps it secure in its position. This redesign worked beautifully!
