The original Prusa i3 MK2 is an exceptionally nice printer. However, the display/controller jutting out so far at the bottom front of the machine really bothers me. To reduce the footprint, moving the unit to the top next to the spool holder seemed like a great idea since the "bounding box" of the machine wouldn't be changed by the controller (if that makes sense). So I used the original Prusa i3 MK2 STL files and remixed a new bracket from the spool holder and the display holder. Since editing STL files with 123Design seems a bit confusing, I sliced both components in half vertically and created an SVG file with the 2D shape before extruding it to the right thickness. First try = perfect fit. Really nice! Print instructions: print them twice (in orange filament for a seamless blend). I used PLA and the fit and strength are perfectly fine.
