Toothpick Tomahawks (1:18 scale)
myminifactory
I've been itching to tackle this project for quite some time now. I discovered that those upscale toothpicks designed for serving appetizers are perfectly sized and shaped to serve as 1:18 scale axe handles. So, I created several varieties of axe heads, all intended to be paired with a toothpick to form a complete chopping or throwing implement for your miniature figures. To complete the axes, you'll need some toothpicks. Ideally, they should have a round cross-section and some eye-catching details at one end. I snagged a container full of them for an incredibly low price of 0.49 cents at a local variety shop in my neighborhood. Once you've got the heads printed out, trim down the toothpick to your desired length. You'll also need to shave down the end slightly to get it to fit snugly into the hole in the print. That's deliberate, as it provides a nice press fit. Just take a knife to it, try pushing it into the head, and repeat the process until you've achieved a finished axe that looks great.
