I think I've come up with a better redesign for my previous ratcheting design. You simply insert the end of the tube into the slot in the roller and begin winding. A clear arrow on the rod indicates the direction you should wind. The ratchet design securely holds the tube in place, preventing it from unwinding as it rests against the frame. The roller is designed to slide smoothly in and out of the frame when needed for assembly or removal of the tube. To ensure stability, I've added supports to the roller. For added convenience, I've created removable spacers that keep the roller together during printing, eliminating the need for supports all the way up the inside - a time-saving move that shaved off 15 minutes from my print time. The frame requires a couple of supports on its interior surface within the ratcheting area. To make turning easier and more comfortable, I've chamfered the wheel.
