Tools to Ventilate Multiple Patients on the Same Machine
thingiverse
These devices are a set of tools designed to safely ventilate multiple patients using the same machine. Tested on high-fidelity mannequins at our simulation center, they have yet to be tested on actual patients. As such, they should only be used with extreme caution and as a last resort if clinically applied. We will soon publish data on these devices and encourage you to watch our YouTube video explaining how each one works: https://youtu.be/ikMGO74AoFY. The vent splitter allows two inspiratory circuits to be connected to the ventilator, which in our trials was an LTV 1200. Orifice plates enable titration of peak pressure for one patient by increasing resistance and thus decreasing their peak pressure. The 4mm tube adder permits supplemental oxygen to be added to a patient's inspiratory circuit, allowing FiO2 titration. The 4mm splitter is necessary to combine expiratory circuits back to the machine. Below you will find a link to documentation outlining the steps and parts required: https://docs.google.com/document/d/154kASLjKGEOrOMHB42PemU0Yc4BvV9fxo3m_gUyM-GM/edit?usp=sharing. Please note that these pieces may not fit every ventilator or all tubing, so feel free to alter them as needed.
