Tools for better Photography of the Moon

There is an in-depth German tutorial available online on our website, located at https://3druck.com/blog/diy-anleitung-bessere-mondfotos-mit-3d-gedruckten-hilfsmitteln-3155194/. A concise English version can be found below. To capture better images of the moon, simply use the two included items. I achieved this with a Nikon D3200 and an old 500mm M42 catadioptric system that I purchased for a minimal cost. The spacer part is designed to increase the distance between the catadioptric system and the camera. In my case, it was necessary due to the hot shoe of the camera colliding with the catadioptric system. Depending on your camera and M42 mount, you may not require this adapter or need to adjust its properties; hence, I uploaded it as a SCAD file for further customization. The second item is more critical: It's a Hartman Mask (also known as a Scheinerblende), which helps you accurately focus on distant objects like the moon. Simply place it in front of your camera and try to focus – you will see your target object double. When it is in focus, you will see it clearly without any doubling. I have included two example pictures: one with the moon out of focus and another with the moon just in focus. The mask is also customizable since depending on your optic system, you may need different diameters. As with all Thingiverse projects, neither the creator nor 3Druck.com are responsible for any damage that these 3D printed parts might cause. Print Settings: Printer: Anet Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Layerheight Infill: 10-90% Notes: The parts are very basic and easy to print.
